The South Cross Bayou Wastewater Treatment project includes rehabilitation of the facility’s denitrification filters to improve reclaimed water quality and support continued advanced wastewater treatment performance. South Cross Bayou is Pinellas County’s largest wastewater treatment facility, permitted to treat an annual average of 33 MGD and serving as a key resource recovery facility for the region.
The project also includes upgrades to the dewatering polymer system and construction of protected polymer storage to improve system reliability and material performance. These improvements will help modernize critical treatment processes, support long-term facility operations, and reduce nutrient loading to surrounding waterways.
