The Hyperion Advanced Water Purification Facility is a progressive design-build project delivered by Walsh Construction and Brown and Caldwell in Los Angeles, California. The facility supports the City of Los Angeles’ Pure Water Los Angeles program by expanding local water reuse, reducing long-term dependence on imported water, and advancing the transformation of the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant toward 100 percent water recycling.
The new facility is designed to produce up to 1.5 million gallons per day of advanced treated recycled water for approved non-potable uses at Hyperion and Los Angeles International Airport, including cooling water, sanitary facilities, and other operational demands. The treatment process includes fine screening, membrane bioreactor treatment, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet advanced oxidation, and post-treatment stabilization, supported by pump stations, chemical storage, conveyance systems, and a 125,000-gallon product water tank.
