Things To Avoid When Stress Levels Are On The Rise
The Walsh Group has partnered with Maritza Puello, wellness coach and certified mindfulness teacher, to discuss mental health awareness and share helpful steps along the way. In the video above, Maritza discusses things to avoid when stress levels are on the rise.
When things get hectic and you find your stress levels rising, you do not want to do things that will add to the stress. Many times, the activities you frequently turned to in the past, can actually exacerbate stress leaving you feeling worse.
Here are a few things to avoid when you are feeling stressed.
.... Avoid excessive eating and drinking. This type of behavior can be taxing on your physical, mental and emotional health.
.... Avoid not taking time for yourself. Remember to take time for yourself everyday – even if only 10 minutes. Taking time for yourself will help you take a break from being in the stress response cycle and give you a moment to reset and start over again.
.... Avoid over-thinking, worrying or over-analyzing situations. Don’t spend a lot amount of time ruminating about how things worked out in the past or trying to predict how things will turn out in the future. It is good to have a plan and be flexible, but do not spend countless hours going over the same scenario.
.... Limit how much news you consume. The same goes for watching TV or movies that have a lot of violent scenes. Be mindful watching or listening to media that leaves you agitated.
