The Veterans Memorial Bridge design-build project is the largest American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project in Florida Department of Transportation District 4. The major feature is a 3,000-foot bridge spanning the St. Lucie Waterway in Martin County, providing an additional crossing between Palm City and Stuart. The new structure is a 19-span concrete-beam bridge utilizing the new Florida I-Beam shape and hammerhead-type piers. The bridge varies in width from 109 feet to 123 feet, allowing for four travel lanes, bike lanes and protected sidewalks.
