Hyperion Advanced Water Purification Facility Awarded OSCE Silver Award
Los Angeles, California – The Hyperion Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF) has been recognized with the Outstanding Civil Engineering Silver Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This award honors the project that best illustrates superior civil engineering and represents a significant contribution to innovation and society. Winning the Silver Award, Hyperion AWPF is celebrated as ASCE’s second best civil engineering project in the United States for 2026, elevating the project among the nation’s best transportation, water and environmental projects. Walsh Construction Project Manager Jeremy Stockschlaeder accepted the award alongside Brown and Caldwell and Los Angeles Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) at the 2026 ASCE Outstanding Projects and Leaders Awards.
Built by Walsh Construction and designed by Brown and Caldwell, the facility is a major advancement in Southern California’s water infrastructure. The LASN’s new 1.5 million gallons per day facility transforms primary effluent from the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant into high quality advanced treated recycled water. This supply supports operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Hyperion’s own industrial systems, significantly reducing reliance on potable water and advancing the City of Los Angeles’ goal of achieving 100 percent water reuse at Hyperion.
