Archer Western begins construction on new Simsboro Aquifer Water Treatment Plant, Well Field and Transmission Facilities project
Bastrop, Texas - Archer Western joined elected leaders and officials from the City of Bastrop for the groundbreaking of the new Simsboro Acquifier Water Treatment Plant, Well Field and Transmission Facilities project.
The project includes construction of three new water wells in the Simsboro Aquifer, and completion of an existing well; approximately 14,000 linear feet of 10” to 24” well field gathering pipeline to convey raw water to the water treatment plant. Work also includes a new six million gallons per day (MGD) water treatment plant.
Designed by Freese and Nichols, the new water treatment plant and wellfield will replace the existing water supply from shallow alluvial wells, under the influence of the Colorado River, to deep wells that draw from the Simsboro aquifer. Conversion of the City’s water supply source to deep groundwater wells will provide the City with a reliable, resilient drinking water supply.
