Safety Week 2021: Mental Health Awareness
Time Management and Your Well-Being
When you have limited time and many things to do it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. You may not know where to start or you simply let things fall through the cracks. If you’re already feeling stressed, worrying about not having enough time to meet your deadline can make you feel even more stressed.
The Walsh Group has partnered with Maritza Puello, wellness coach and certified mindfulness teacher, to discuss mental health awareness and share helpful steps along the way. In the video above, Maritza shares some tips for making the most of your time.
.... Prioritize your work, tasks, chores, activities. Keep a daily list of all the items you would like to tackle for the day. Highlight which ones need to be completed by the end of day.
.... Set aside an hour or a portion of the day to complete the most important tasks of the day. If your time is up and you have not finished, extend your scheduled time for the day or reschedule your deadlines for another day.
.... Manage your expectations. Be willing to take inventory of what needs to get done and what can wait.
.... Recognize when you need to take a break. Don’t push through. Save that for when it is absolutely necessarily.
.... Prioritize healthy activities like exercise, contemplation, prayer, meditation, attending a worship service. Taking a few minutes each day for these activities can leave you feeling refreshed and energized, giving you better focus to complete your tasks with greater ease.
Stay in touch with friends, family members, neighbors, people in your community. Being social goes a long way for maintaining your overall well-being. Researchers have found that people who have social connections are more likely to thrive, while those who lack social connections are more likely to suffer from depression.
