The I-290/I-88 Interchange at I-294 project included major roadway and bridge improvements along the Reagan Memorial Tollway from milepost 138.1 to milepost 140.5. The project involved complete roadway reconstruction, demolition and replacement of the York Road bridge overpass, widening of the I-88 bridge over Roosevelt Road, and repairs to the I-88 bridge over Salt Creek.
Additional improvements included a new westbound fourth lane from the I-294 southbound to I-88 westbound ramp to the 22nd Street exit, supported by two new MSE walls. The project also included new noise abatement walls for nearby neighborhoods, along with upgraded drainage, utilities, and roadway infrastructure throughout the corridor. As one of seven projects within the larger I-294 reconstruction program.
