The Walsh Group hosts annual Construction Camp with ACE Mentor Chicago
Chicago, Illinois – The Walsh Group hosted its fifth annual Construction Camp in partnership with ACE Mentor Chicago, taking place June 15-19. Walsh welcomed 23 high school students from 16 schools to its Chicago headquarters for a week of learning and exploration.
Throughout the week, students participated in multiple hands-on activities, collaborated on estimating and bidding workshop projects and visited job sites for a first-hand look at field operations. Students were also able to learn about the various career opportunities within the construction industry directly from Walsh employees and project teams.
The annual Construction Camp is one of many ways The Walsh Group invests in the next generation of builders, giving them the tools, exposure and experiences that can make a lasting impact. Most importantly, it provides students an opportunity to envision themselves as the future builders, engineers, project managers and leaders of our industry.
“Construction Camp is an important part of our commitment to introducing students to the opportunities available within the construction industry. By providing hands-on experiences and direct access to our professionals, we’re helping students better understand the impact of the work we do and the variety of career paths available,” said Emily Kocher, director of recruitment at The Walsh Group. “We’re proud to partner with ACE Mentor Chicago to inspire the next generation of industry leaders and create meaningful opportunities for students to explore their future.”
Five years ago, The Walsh Group started Construction Camp with ACE Mentor Chicago as an opportunity to showcase the various careers in construction. The Walsh Group is a proud supporter of ACE Mentor Chicago and its mission to mentor high school students and increase their awareness of career opportunities in architecture, construction, engineering and related fields. The ACE Program aims to provide pathways for students to receive scholarship opportunities and industry exposure.
