EAST LANSING, MI - Walsh Construction has topped off The Abbot Apartments, placing the final steel beam atop a new 13-story student residence apartment building being constructed near the campus of Michigan State University. Project team members and stakeholders signed the ceremonial beam to that marks the completion of the building's vertical construction. The mixed-use building's ground level will offer retail space, three levels of parking and nine levels of student housing. Living space will include studio, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units with a common area on the top floor, which will allow residents views of Spartan Stadium. A unique components of project construction is the utilization of load-bearing prefabricated exterior and interior wall panels that helps to reduce cost and save schedule compared with a stick-build scope.
