Safety Recognitions
As a continuation to our project specific safety award program, we have developed an Award Committee that will choose one, two, three or four projects annually as a Walsh Group Matthew Myles Walsh, II Founders National Safety Award Project. The projects will stand out in recognition as setting the safety standard for all Walsh Group project teams.
Four projects in each Business Group will be selected as being eligible for the Matthew Myles Walsh, II Founders National Safety Award. The categories are determined yearly as the contract values vary. The Safety Professional for each BGL will choose the projects where outstanding efforts of the management team and the tradesmen have achieved exemplary safety performance.
Projects to be chosen will submit the MMWII Evaluation document and no more than 25 pages of photos, interviews, or other enhancement documents as part of the submittal. Those projects where the project team implemented all aspects of the company Safety Matrix System (found in the company safety manual in the Project Safety Administration Section) in an extraordinarily safe fashion can be considered. Projects where the project team managed both self-performed and subcontracted exposures with minimal incidents taking place on that project are good candidates for award. Therefore, even subcontractors’ safety performance will be considered in the analysis for the Matthew Myles Walsh, II Founders National Safety Award. (See Matthew Myles Walsh, II Founders National Safety Award Evaluation Form)
The Leadership Award: This award is presented to the Walsh/AW/RLB group that best represents a team philosophy of striving for “no one getting hurt”.
Program
Once selected as a possible award winner, the Safety Professional will assist the project team in completing the Matthew Myles Walsh, II Founders National Safety Award Form for the projects they have chosen. The Matthew Myles Walsh, II Founders National Safety Award Form will be sent to the Award Committee for review. All forms must be reviewed by the Business Group Leader or Program Manager for approval. The Business Group Leader or the Program Manager will then send the evaluation to the Award Committee by July 31st for approval and consideration to qualify for the MMWII National Safety Award. The Award Committee will choose the winning project or projects prior to the annual Lake Geneva Meeting so that the Project Team Representatives can be present for recognition at the meeting. Whether one, two, three or four projects are chosen, will be at the discretion of the Award Committee. Award in each of the project categories will only be given if the project team has shown that their safety performance was exemplary.
