Archer Western Contractors was awarded the Alvarado Water Treatment Plant Upgrade and Expansion – Ozone Project in June of 2008 by the City of San Diego. The ozone system will allow the Alvarado WTP to expand its daily output of 120 MGD to 200 MGD of clean drinking water. The ozone system technology takes liquid oxygen (O2) and converts it to gaseous ozone (O3) which is then diffused into the water for a controlled time to allow the gaseous ozone to disinfect the water. Archer Western’s scope of work consists of constructing a new 14,000 CY concrete three-story structure, the purchasing and installation of the ozone system, yard piping, site work, the mechanical equipment and piping for the Ozone Facility. Other portions of the work to be completed are the installation of all the plumbing, HVAC equipment and ductwork, electrical system and instrumentation, architectural finishes, landscaping, and miscellaneous improvements to existing structures and equipment. The contract value of the project is $48,000,000with a duration of 730 calendar days and scheduled completion date of June 26, 2010.
