Valley Metro Rail awarded a $95 million contract to Archer Western Contractors to construct the downtown Phoenix area of the METRO light-rail system. The 4.29-mile segment, known as Line Section 3, extends south from McDowell Road along Central/1st Avenues and east to 26th Street along Washington/Jefferson streets. Valley Metro Rail is a non-profit, public corporation that oversaw the design, construction and operation of the METRO light rail system. Archer Western managed all aspects of construction work on the project and also achieved a 13.6% DBE participation level.
