The Walsh Group has performed over $165 Million in projects to help MARTA expand and construct many areas of the North Line. Overall work included new tracks, parking facilities, and new stations. THE SANDY SPRINGS STATION is 3 stories in height and is located underneath one of North Atlanta’s busiest intersections. THE NORTH SPRINGS PARKING DECK is a six-level concrete parking facility with a capacity of 2180 vehicles and a surface parking lot which accommodates 280 vehicles. The structure is cast-in-place and reinforced with both mild steel and post tensioned monostrand. THE NORTH LINE from Sandy Springs to North Springs involved approximately 350,000 CY of excavation, 75,000 SF of tie back walls, 9,800 LF of cut and cover transit tunnel, the initial work on a 3-story underground transit station, and relocation and restoration of utilities and roads necessitated by tunnel construction to minimize disruption to travel. THE AERIAL STRUCTURES PROJECT was new construction of a rapid transit track structure over a major highway and consisted of 7,570 feet of track.
