Contract Value:
$58,000,000
Completion Date:
November 2008
This project for the San Diego County Water Authority consists of the construction of the pump house, tailrace tunnel, inlet/outlet structure, various site work improvements, and the installation of two turbine generators and other major electrical and mechanical equipment. This site draws water from Olivenhain Dam and Reservoir through the Lake Hodges / Olivenhain 120” Diameter Pipeline. This water flows through the two generators during the day, generating electricity that is sold to the SDG&E power grid. During the night, when the cost of electricity is less, the water is pumped from Lake Hodges to the Olivenhain Dam and Reservoir via the same 120” pipeline. The whole process is then repeated.
