Walsh Construction has constructed a series of new retail stores and additions for Home Depot around the Chicagoland area for a combined value of $27,000,000. The scope of work on these facilities was similar from project to project. In General, the existing buildings were demolished prior to construction under a separate contract. The site work usually included new underground water, storm and sanitary system, asphalt parking lots, landscaping, and concrete sidewalk removal and replacement in the areas surrounding the new facilities. The Home Depot located on North Avenue in Chicago was completed in February 1996 with a final contract value of $9,200,000. The facility contains 157,000 SF of space. Of that space 129,679 SF is sales, 20,703 SF is a garden center, and 6,612 SF is storage and office space.
