The Life Sciences Building, located in the center of a series of existing science and classroom buildings, is a teaching and research laboratory that spans a building area of 174,000 SF. It features a 25,000 SF vivarium, a lecture hall, office and conference rooms, a café, special procedure rooms, laboratory facilities, and two pedestrian bridges to adjacent buildings as well as below grade connections to one of the laboratories and a utility tunnel. The skin of the structure consists of precast concrete and tinted low-E coated insulated glass units with ceramic frit spandrels. The laboratory finishes involved a full fill out, including fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, environmental rooms, and anegre wood laboratory casework.
