The UA Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Building (BME) is a 90,000 SF five-story concrete framed facility. The building is designed as two wings joined by a common connector. The north and south wings are comprised of classrooms, laboratories, offices and a lecture hall, while the connector primarily provides public gathering spaces. The second facility was the 285,000 SF Ford Motor Company Environmental Science and Technology Building, also an Archer Western project, and is joined with BME via a below ground reinforced concrete service tunnel installed under the BME contract. This tunnel allows service to both facilities via the ES&T loading dock and service arcade.
