The West Virginia IRS Computing Center is an 850,000 SF facility used by the IRS for the processing of nationwide tax information. The entire complex is a four-story structure that contains three separate functional sections: office space, computer space, and an energy center. The primary function of the complex is to support the liquid cooled computers that electronically process tax information. To this end, an independent, on-site energy center was constructed to supply power to the facility in the event of a power interruption or total power failure. The energy center consists of a single level, which houses the electrical substations, uninterruptible power systems, electric transfer systems and chillers.
