The Sacramento Landside Terminal B project consists of a 349,065 SF state-of-the-art terminal facility. Within the facility there are significant vertical transportation systems, consisting of 18 elevators and eight escalators. The baggage system serves six baggage carousels with sorting taking place in the 104,000 SF basement. The curtainwall system runs floor to roofline 40 feet up, creating open public spaces. The roof system is stainless steel rolled seam design installed on a curve. To facilitate a design goal of LEED Silver, Walsh’s management strategy incorporated originally-developed tracking mechanisms that provide the owner with proper documentation.
Renovations included modifying the existing parking garage with a circulation core for pedestrian access to the new terminal. Onsite roadways were significantly reconfigured with the addition of a departure structure and an on grade arrivals road. The traffic pattern for the site was effectively reversed at the end of construction.
Sacramento International Airport’s Terminal B opened nearly four months ahead of schedule.
