America’s 17th largest general contractor continues to grow. The Walsh Group has officially acquired California-based Heavy-Highway contractor R&L Brosamer.

By using an elaborate wicking and drainage system rigged with instruments to report soil movement and consolidation within and below the structure, engineers fine-tuned the schedule with lead contractor Archer Western Contractors Ltd., Atlanta. They shaved work duration at sites along the 7.54-mile-long project to 45 to 60 days compared with the targeted 90 days.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, along with the Navy and Walsh Construction, broke ground on the final phase of a $330 million project.

This year, Archer Western's Raleigh-Durham Roadbuilders hosted a donation site for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
